How do I care for my Journee Collection shoes?Updated 10 months ago
Caring for your shoes depends on the material they are made from. Please note the material before beginning any care routine. Many of our styles are not waterproof, so avoid wearing fashion styles in bad weather and conditions if possible.
Smooth & Patent Leather:
- Purchase a non-greasy waterproof spray specific to genuine smooth leather or faux leather. Test a small hidden area before fully spraying your shoes.
- Wipe off debris with a non-abrasive cloth dipped in a solution of equal parts cool water and distilled white vinegar.
- Rub scuffs with petroleum jelly and buff with a non-abrasive cloth.
- Allow shoes to air dry completely. To speed up drying, wipe them with a towel after soaking and place newspaper inside to eliminate moisture.
Genuine & Faux Suede:
- Purchase a non-greasy waterproof spray specific to genuine suede leather or faux suede. Test a small area before fully spraying your shoes.
- Wipe off dry debris with a suede brush or soft toothbrush (wet or damp shoes can cause smearing).
- For stains, use a suede stain eraser. Use the suede brush to remove any dry debris before using the stain eraser.
- Store upright and place newspaper inside the shoe or boot to eliminate moisture.
Fabrics:
- Purchase a waterproof spray specific to the fabric material type. Test a small area before fully spraying your shoes.
- Wipe off debris with a paper towel.
- Treat stains with a cleaning mix of 1 tsp. mild dishwashing soap and 2 cups of warm water. Dip a toothbrush into the mix and gently scrub the stains in the fabric. Do not over-wet the fabric.
- To remove soapy residue, use a slightly moistened paper towel to wipe down the shoe.
- To dry, blot with paper towels and let your shoes air dry completely.
